Frequently asked questions
How much vinyl do I need for my car?
Our rolls are 152 cm wide (150 cm on a few finishes): almost every part fits across the width, so you only choose the length.
Wing mirrors (both): 50 cm.
Trims, centre console or dashboard: 50 cm to 1 m.
Bonnet: 1.5 to 2 m.
Roof: 2 m (3 m on an SUV or a large estate).
Full car: about 15 m for a hatchback, a little more for an SUV or a van.
Measure the part at its longest point, following the curve, and add about ten centimetres on each side for trimming. The first time, it is better to order a little more. Not sure? Send us the make and model and we will tell you what length you need.
How much does it cost to wrap a car?
It depends on the part and the vinyl. In our standard range, 50 cm for the wing mirrors costs €25.99, 2 m for the roof €69.99 and the 15 m roll for a whole car €369.99. In the ICR® Premium range, a metre costs €59.99 and 15 m €492.99.
If you do it yourself, you only need to add a few basic tools. If you use a wrap shop, add the cost of labour. Either way, changing colour with vinyl is usually much cheaper than a respray, and it is reversible.
Which vinyl is right for my car?
For a sporty look: carbon fibre vinyl. Premium gloss black carbon is our best seller, and 3D carbon is the easiest to apply.
To change colour: matte vinyl or gloss vinyl, which look like paint.
For eye-catching details: chrome or colour shift.
For a full car wrap: the ICR® Premium range, which is easier to reposition and lasts longer.
Can I wrap my car myself?
Yes. For small and medium parts (wing mirrors, trims, roof or bonnet) you only need a felt-edged squeegee, a cutter and a heat gun or hairdryer. Four steps: clean and degrease the part with isopropyl alcohol, lay the vinyl, heat it so it follows the curves, and trim off the excess.
Work in the shade, out of the wind and at a mild temperature. For a full car wrap or chrome films, which are harder, we recommend some experience or the help of an installer.
Can the vinyl be removed without damaging the paint?
Yes, from intact original paint. A little heat softens the adhesive and you peel the vinyl off slowly and at a low angle. Any adhesive residue comes off with isopropyl alcohol.
On resprayed surfaces or damaged lacquer, the paint can come away when you remove it: try a hidden area first. On fresh paint, wait at least a month before wrapping. While it is on the car, the vinyl protects the paint from the sun and fine scratches.
How do I look after a car wrap?
Wash it by hand with water, a neutral car shampoo and a microfibre mitt. Avoid car washes with brushes and do not aim the pressure washer at the edges. On matte and satin finishes, do not use wax or polish: they leave shiny patches.
For the first 48 hours after wrapping, do not wash the car, so the adhesive can bond properly.
When will my order arrive?
If you pay before 4 pm (CET) on a working day, your order leaves our warehouse the same day. Otherwise, the next working day. We will email you the tracking number.
Delivery: €2.99, free from €59.95.
Europe: by SEUR in 3–5 working days.
The rolls travel in a strong tube, without folds. More in our delivery policy.
Is the vinyl also suitable for homes, offices or shops?
Yes. Although we specialise in cars, the same films can refresh furniture, doors, kitchen fronts and appliances at home, and desks, counters, cupboards, doors and shop windows in offices, shops and venues. They are also used on motorbikes, helmets and laptops.
The surface must be smooth, non-porous, clean and dry: melamine, lacquer, metal, glass or hard plastic. They are not suitable for raw wood, rough walls or very hot areas such as a hob. For interiors: wood-grain vinyl and alcantara.
Self-adhesive vinyl wraps for car, home and office
At Vinyl King you can buy self-adhesive vinyl on 152 cm wide rolls in more than 80 finishes: carbon, chrome, matte, gloss, colour shift and the ICR® Premium range. Order from 25 cm for a pair of wing mirrors up to 15 metres to wrap a whole car, and pay only for what you really need. We specialise in cars, but the same vinyl works on furniture, in the kitchen, in the office and in shops.

For your car
The classics: a black or carbon roof, wing mirrors, bonnet, spoiler, pillars and interior trims. With vinyl you can also change the colour of the whole car, do a chrome delete on the window trims and grille, or give your motorbike and helmet your own style.
For home, office and shop
Refresh furniture, doors and kitchen fronts without building work, or update desks, counters and shop windows. Vinyl sticks to smooth surfaces: melamine, lacquer, metal, glass or plastic. At home, the most popular choice is wood-grain vinyl.
Cheaper than paint
A wrap costs much less than a respray, you can do it at home with a squeegee and a hairdryer, and you can remove it at any time without damaging the original paint. While it's on, it protects the paint from the sun and fine scratches.
